FR-S First Mods> AIRAID Cold Air Intakes

The second product in our FR-S First Mods series, the AIRAID Cold Air Intake is an affordable and easy way to get even more from that D-4S Boxer engine. Cold Air Intakes increase the air flow (with cooler air) resulting in more horsepower and torque and often a savings in mpg as well.

AIRAID was present when Scion first made their FR-S available to aftermarket companies for product development. Bringing complex 3D measuring equipment, AIRAID scanned the FR-S engine bay in order to begin R&D.

While new on the Import scene, you may be familiar with AIRAID through other vehicle applications. AIRAID Filter Company has become the recognized leader in air management within the automotive aftermarket industry. You'll find their American-made intakes and filters are top in quality and design.

In creating the unit for the FR-S, they've made the CAI system fit like OEM with their one-piece roto-molded air box. Installation will be easy since no aftermarket tuning is required. The filter uses the most surface area possible for optimal air flow and is available in either Synthaflow (non-oiled) or Synthamax (synthetic – oiled). For more information about the Synthaflow vs. Synthamax filters, check out this summary page from AIRAID.

Preliminary dyno tests show a gain in 5-7 hp and 3-4 ft/lbs torque. Test vehicles have been using them in varied driving conditions as part of AIRAID's rigorous testing process. Priced between $279-287, this is an accessible modification that can make a noticeable difference in performance.

At time of writing this, AIRAID's Cold Air Intake is in final stages of production and will most likely be ready to ship before the end of the week! This is one of the very first CAI's on the market for the FR-S and has the quality and warranty of AIRAID behind it.
