Race to the Clouds on Pikes Peak

Last weekend was supposed to be the 90th running of Pikes Peak. The event dubbed "Race to the Clouds" runs up a 12.42 mile course twisting and turning up the summit of Pikes Peak just outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Due to a wildfire in the region however, the race has been postponed to August 12th.
In preparation for the coming Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, we thought it a perfect time to let you know more about both the race and the Scion Racing GReddy tC driven by Takeshi Aizawa that is to compete. Watching the above video (Ken Gushi's final test run in a Lexus IS F) you begin to get an idea of how grueling of a race Pikes Peak Hill Climb is. With 156 turns climbing 4,720 feet – with thin air robbing engine's of 30% power at the summit's top altitude of 14,110 feet* – Pike's Peak doesn't just take speed and skill but endurance as well.

Takeshi Aizawa will be racing the GReddy road racing tC up Pikes Peak. The concept behind building this tC was to create a competitive race car that was also fully street legal. All modifications to this tC are either prototype's or GReddy products that can be purchased and added onto Scion Owners tCs. This Scion Racing team competes in races including Time Attack and various other road races. Find out more and follow along at GReddy's #11 webpage.
