Getting Your Scion Set for Summer

Today's the first day of summer! Which means it's the perfect time to do a few summer maintenance checks. Most of these can be done at home and taken to a mechanic if any issues are spotted.

Clean Winter Away
If you live in a snowy climate – you may have snow tires to change out and clean the underside of your car to make sure there's no road salt hanging out underneth causing corrosion.

Battery Check
The summer heat can be hard on a battery. If there's any corrosion at the battery terminals it can keep your battery from operating correctly. To clean: remove the cables and thoroughly clean battery terminals then securely tighten the cables on again.

Prepare For Heat
Not only should you check to make sure your air conditioning system is working good and has no leaks – but you should also check your coolant system. Look to make sure your radiator fluid is full and that all hoses and belts are free of any cracks or visible damage. Also, you may consider having your radiator flushed as the composition of coolant breaks down over time – it's a good idea to flush your radiator every 1 to 3 years.

It Rains In Summer Too
Are your wiper blades in good condition and working well? The summer heat can be hard on blade's rubber - if they're questionable, replace your windshield wipers before a summer storm comes your way. 

Ensure Maintenance Is Complete
Things like brake components and air filters should be checked with regular maintenance – but now is a good time to ensure they have been! Harsh conditions can contribute to filters needing to be changed more often.

Doing these few simple things can help avoid frustrating headaches later on! Enjoy your summer!!!
