Scion Owner Spotlight> JODELE

What is a fitting gift for a son who's just earned a full scholarship to Cincinnati University to study Bio-Medical Engineeering?? A Scion of course! And the Jodele family didn't stop at just a regular ol' Scion for their hard-working and intelligent son. Making it into a father and son project, the two have created a one-of-a-kind custom they call "Zelas tC."*

Beginning with the 2011 tC in sizzling crimson mica they went on to do a whole bunch of modifications. What they're most proud of are the customized wheels and brakes. To increase the stopping power and add some good looks too, they went with equipment created for Scion's cousin – Lexus. Using precision measurements and a little custom design and machining – StopTech's big brake kit for the Lexus IS250 was used. Since Dad Jodele is a mechanical engineer by trade, he was able to use AutoCAD to create the ideal dimensions for special caliper brackets that were then machined, hard anodized, and powder coated to match. Over this special brake set-up goes Lexus F-Sport Full Forged Aluminum Wheels with custom-made TRD center caps.

Another neat addition made possible by Dad is the "only Toyota made rear shelf spoiler" for the 2nd gen tC. It comes off of the Zelas which is the badge tC is sold under in the Middle East. Doing some work out of the Middle East enabled him to bring home this modification, which makes it kind of like JDM…but even more unique!

Father and son won recognition at the recent Scion Go-Exposed event in Xenia, Ohio. Even if this project may have been a little more father than son – we're sure the son will have lots of fun, enjoyment, and safety in his Zelas tC! It sounds like learning moves the Jodeles…what moves you?!

The spoiler is made by Toyota for the Zelas...lots of people tried to import it from the UAE...I am the only one that has succeeded because I did it myself. So kind of custom, but not quite. http://www.drivearabia.com/news/2010/12/08/toyota-zelas-2011-scion-tc-dubai-abu-dhabi-motor-show-uae/
